Hehe
You know that verse that goes something like, "Cast your cares upon the Lord, for he cares for you"? I don't have the reference (or time to find it) at the moment, but it's something like that. Anyway, I've always sort of passed over that verse, because something about it ticked me off. It's overused, quoted way out of proportion to the rest of the Bible, and seems to be promoting the whole "Jesus is my homeboy" trend. Not cool. Very un-forerunner-ish.
So of all verses for the Holy Spirit to bring to my attention, guess which one He chooses...Hehe. In the end I had to humble myself a bit and admit that it really applies to me, although I will say that if the Western church actually stopped and meditated on it for a little while, they might not like that passage so much after all-- God might as well be suggesting that we jump off a cliff. For real.
I guess I'm on the journey of discovering that there aren't any un-forerunner-ish verses in the Bible at all...and I have no right to be proud of my knowledge of the ones that come on rather strongly. Who knows what kind of embarrassing passage I'll stumble upon next...
